I graduated from WCA in 2015 and am now a freshman in college. And honestly… I can say that this place is a HUGE reason why I’m not dying right now. Not only did everybody prep me for college, they prepped me for life. I know how to stand firm in my faith because of WCA. As a matter of fact, most everything I learned about my faith came from WCA. The teachers, staff, and students really do become your family. During my time at WCA (12 years!), I lost a lot of family to stage 4 malignant melanoma. Every time someone passed away, everyone came around me and my family, prayed for us, gave hugs. They did a lot for me. I could vent to a teacher or a friend and they would just sit and listen, and was some of the best therapy I could have asked for. I’ve made incredible friends at WCA, both students and teachers. My best friend I met my freshman year of high school, and had it not been for WCA, I never would have met her (which would have been tragic).
The teachers and staff not only teach the curriculum, but they look after you. They really do. They’ll help you grow in your faith as much as a youth leader would. I went through some crazy stuff in regards to my faith my junior year, and one of my teachers swept in to help. God really worked through her in that situation, and I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today if that wouldn’t have happened. The teachers LOVE their students. I should know; I was one! And the day I graduated, they were just as proud of me and the class of 2015 as our parents and families were. My fall break is coming up, and if the hurricane doesn’t get in the way, I’ll be swinging by to say “hi” to everyone! Because once you’re a WCA student, you’ll always be a part of the eagle’s nest, no matter where you go. smile emoticon
