The leadership at WCA has released the 2018-2019 Student-Parent Handbook. WCA’s Student-Parent Handbook is the main resource for school policy and procedure and contains critical information on areas like dress code, academic standards, disciplinary policies, digital citizenship and more. This year is largely the same, but several changes were made that may impact some students, such as:
To reduce confusion and to help get the first period started more smoothly and on time, the school start time has been adjusted from 8:05 AM to 8:00 AM.
For the 2018-2019 school year, WCA is switching for the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible to the English Standard Version (ESV) for all classes, chapels, and Biblical instruction.
WCA will now be issuing driver parking permit placards that must be displayed by all students driving to school. Students discovered driving to or from school without having an approved Student Driver Permission Form on file and permit placard displayed will be subject to disciplinary action. The parking permits are $20 for the whole school year.
Past editions of the handbook contained the various disciplinary policies for a number of different school elements and categories but were often spread throughout the book in distantly located sections. This year’s handbook collects all disciplinary categories and guidelines in one section.
Hooded sweatshirts will still be permitted in school, but must be official WCA logo items. Solid colored sweaters, fleece, quarter‐zip, crewneck sweatshirt are permitted and can contain a small logo only which must not be larger than 2 inches by 2 inches.
Yoga pants or solid color tights may not be worn by girls, regardless of whether they are covered by shorts. Khaki, navy or black pants or walking shorts are the only lower body covering permitted. Also not permitted are Croc-type shoes, or any backless sandals or flip-flops.
These policies and many more are now located online. A part of the start of year procedures for all families, a member of the family must review the entire Student-Parent Handbook, and acknowledge that they have done so and agree to abide by that handbook by digitally submitting the WCA Parent/Student Handbook Agreement Form on Praxi under ‘Online Forms’.
