Emmie Dawson is a bit unique as a teacher at WCA. Emmie is a new member of the faculty this year, and patiently and lovingly teaches one of our two Preschool classes (the Elephants). But her uniqueness lies in the fact that Emmie was a student at WCA for 13 years and graduated from WCA. She continued on at Liberty and received her degree in Family and Child Development.
We caught up with Emmie to ask her a few frank and fun questions about herself:
Q. When you were a student here, what did you like most about school?
A. I loved attending sporting events and the close knit friendships I maintained.
Q. What was your very first job?
A. Rita’s Italian Ice!
Q. A Fun Fact about you that might surprise people?
A. I played the trumpet in Middle school band, and I color coordinate all the clothes in my closet
Q. If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be, and why?
A. I would love to meet Ashton Kutcher. When I was in middle school. I created a scrapbook of Ashton pictures! I love his humor and positive attitude and encouragement towards young audiences. ***Editor’s Note: Emmie didn’t clarify if she would want that first meeting to be as a ‘victim’ on ‘Punk’d’ ; )
Q. What is one of your pet peeves?
A. When things are disorganized, and a dirty kitchen.
Q. What is it like to return to WCA now as a teacher, having been a student here for so long?
A. I never thought that I would be a teacher at WCA after spending 13 years here. It is so awesome how God works. WCA has such a great atmosphere. After spending two years in a public preschool, it is great to be able to teach about the characteristics of God to my little Elephants. I still feel the love and guidance as I felt when I was a student. The only thing that I am getting used t, is being a teacher instead of a student- it is strange being in charge. This school has been a blessing in my life.
Q. What is the attribute of Christ that you love most?
A. His forgiveness and loving spirit!
