WCA Boys basketball Clinches 2nd Straight METRO Regular Season Title With Undefeated Conference Record

Williamsburg Christian Academy has won its second METRO regular season title in as many years, after defeating Broadwater Academy last Monday night, and then went on to secure a spotless season record with wins over Alliance Christian and Hampton Christian Tuesday and Thursday.

WCA 79, Broadwater 32

The game against Broadwater was actually the title clinching game, as even a tie with Metro 2nd place finisher Atlantic Shores would have gone to WCA as a result of two head to head victories for the Eagles. Coach Chris Brown sought to eliminate any doubt that the title would be in hand, urging his players to run an up tempo offense that quickly established a commanding 38-16 lead at the half. The Eagles would close out the game, and the title, with a final score of 79-32.

WCA 75, Alliance Christian 63

Despite the close final score, the Senior Night game versus Alliance was not a close contest. Seniors Luke Anderson, Chris Thomas and Danny Kean got substantial playing time, as they started the game, and saw action later in the game as well. In the 4th quarter with over a thirty point lead, Coach Brown decided to give many of his JV call-ups extra playing time, which could be very important heading into METRO and State Tourney action.

WCA 92, Hampton Christian 81

With the Metro Conference title secure, the Eagles entered their last game with one final regular season goal: an undefeated conference season. On the road on the court of Hampton Christian, the story of the game was a familiar one. Team captain Cle’Von Greene exploded for 39 points, as WCA jumped out to 19 point lead and held off several surges by HCA the remainder of the game. Sophomore Dexter Radcliffe had a breakout contest, dumping in 19 points to go with 11 scrappy rebounds, and Sophomore Chester Makoi added 12 points and 3 blocks.

The METRO Conference quarterfinals will commence with an earlier than normal 3:45PM game time on Thursday, February 24th. We encourage our entire student body to stay after school and watch as we start our journey to a METRO Conference Tourney Championship!
