WCA JJV Boys Stun Stonebridge with 16 Point Comeback to Take Metro Crown

Williamsburg Christian Academy won the 2016 Metro Conference JJV Tournament Championship defeating #1 Stonebridge 35-34. Stonebridge JJV Boys had been undefeated to that point.

The #3 ranked Eagles came from behind after going down 16 to 0 in the first quarter to pull within 7 at half time with Stonebridge leading 19 to 12.

At the end of three quarters WCA has closed the gap to  24 – 22.  Going into the 4th quarter the Eagles clamped down on defense and made several free throws, to go up by four, but Stonebridge regained the lead by 4 with just over a minute to play. A clutch 3 pointer and two steals followed by two free made throws put WCA ahead by one. On the inbounds, Stonebridge took the ball down the court with 17 seconds remaining, managed to get underneath the basket for a good look at a basket, but the ball precariously circled the rim and rolled out at the buzzer, ending the game 35-34.

The Eagles, a #3 seed, had defeated #2 seeded Isle of Wight 33-23 in the Semifinals the night before. Our entire team and coaches represented our school very well!

Congrats to the coaches players and parents for a job well done and thank you to all of the many fans that came out to support the team!
