Eagle JJV Field Hockey Ends Season on Three Game Win Streak

After a series of very close losses, the Eagle JJV Field Hockey squad ended its season Tuesday with the third of three straight victories, besting Cape Henry at home 1-0. A team that is still growing and learning, the team, led by Head Coach Kraig Ware, started rough, but steadily progressed through the season, as it originally lost a game to Norfolk Collegiate, only to avenge that loss at home 1-0. The game in between was a road game versus Cape Henry, which was a wild shootout with the final score of 5-3. The team was led by its three captains and strongest players Nicole Zani, Mary Nice and Jessie Sizemore.

The outlook is bright for WCA Field Hockey as many of this year’s players were new, but will certainly progress in future seasons as these players learn the game and build chemistry with their teammates. As the team grows together and reaches the JV and Varsity level, a larger selection of opponents will open up as well. The team’s schedule this season was a challenging one, as very few schools have middle school field hockey teams, and the team played club level competition for many contests.

We thank all the parents that dutifully contributed to the team’s success, and congratulate the players on a fantastic season!
