Eagle Swim Varsity Girls Ranked Top 16 Statewide

After 4 weeks of the competitive swim meet season, two of our Eagle swim varsity girls, Kaitlyn Sullivan and Lainey Flanagan, are checking in in the top 16 in multiple events in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA), among those schools reporting meet times.

Kaitlyn Sullivan is currently the top ranked swimmer in the state in the 50 yard Freestyle with her time of 24.74 as a freshman. She is also ranked 4th in the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:13.37), 5th in the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:11.10), and 7th in the 100 yard freestyle (55.35).

Sophomore Lainey Flanagan is currently ranked 11th in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:03.58), and 12th in the 100 yard Backstroke (1:04.11). Lainey is also qualified in the 100 yard freestyle for the VISAA Swim & Dive Championships in Stafford, Virginia on February 16th and 17th.

Unlike many other VISAA sports, there are no defined Divisions in swimming within VISAA, so all ranking are among all independent schools in the entirety of Virginia, including powerhouses like St Christoper/St. Catherine’s, the Collegiate School, and Seton School in the DC area.

The recent Norfolk Academy Invitational JV meet and Trinity Episcopal Varsity meet were cancelled due to weather. This weekend, those swimmers who have dodged the flu bug will be competing at the St. Catherine’s Invitational in Richmond.  The varsity swimmers will see action next at the VISAA Division 2 Invitational at the Freedom Aquatic Center in Manassas on February 3rd. Sullivan competed last year in the event and placed 1st overall in the 100 Breaststroke, and 2nd in the 500 Freestyle.

Here are a few photos of our varsity group competing at the Trinity Episcopal Invitational on December 15th.
