Four WCA Students Honored as ACT-SO Academic Olympians by NAACP
In a ceremony held on January 15th hosted by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation at the Colonial Williamsburg Lodge, the 29th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. ACT-SO Awards Reception honored the academic achievements of our area’s top African-American students. Included among the 36 students named as ACT-SO Olympians were four Williamsburg Christian Academy students. Congratulations to sophomore Nandi Davis, junior Lela Butler, and seniors Ra’Shawn Cook and Da’Shawn Cook for being selected to receive this honor.
The Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is a major youth initiative of the NAACP designed to recruit, stimulate, improve and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. The program’s success hinges on the dedication and commitment of community volunteers and business leaders who serve as mentors and coaches to promote academic and artistic excellence.
