WCA Soccer Finishes Strong, Will Face Seahawks in Metro Semis

The WCA Men’s soccer team nailed down a 7-2-1 record with a 4 goals to 2 home win against Hampton Christian Academy last Thursday night. The win set Coach Kim’s Eagles up for a Metro Semi-final tournament showdown at Atlantic Shores Christian this coming Thursday, October 26th.

WCA jumped out to a quick lead in this one as Cle’von Greene assisted Jalen Vaughan with a cross from the right side to Vaughan streaking into the box to put it away in the 10th minute. RaShawn Cook had a busy day, providing the next two scores,  burying the first from 5 yards away on a beautiful assist by Peter Rodenberg, and another down the right sideline, eluding a defender, and scoring on a beautiful shot from 20 yards out into the left-side netting.

The final goal would be Vaughan in the box again as he held off a defender, and turned, shot and scored the final points of the contest.
As the contest was also the final regular season home game of the season, it was also Senior Night, as the team honored Cle’von Greene, Rashawn Cook, DaShawn Cook, Evan Henley, Jahvon Noray, Joshua Jiang and goalie Robert Carter in their final home contest.
If the Eagles are able to oust Atlantic Shores on Thursday, the Metro Championship game will be played Saturday at Portsmouth Christian School.
