Service Learning
Students at WCA are stewards of our community and perform community service in a number of school-coordinated and independent community service projects. Our lower school students are taught the value and blessing of giving early by sending Christmas cards to the elderly and care packages to soldiers overseas, while our Upper School students rake leaves for mobility-limited residents around Williamsburg, collect socks for retirement home residents, and spearhead food drives around the Thanksgiving holiday, among other service opportunities.
Service hours are tracked, and each student is required to log a specific amount of community service, which is wrapped into the CAS requirement for IB Diploma Program students. Many students far exceed the requirement in independent service projects.
Charitable organizations WCA has partnered with in the past include Housing Partnerships, Avalon, Dreamcatchers, Grove Outreach Ministries, and Envoy Elder Care of Williamsburg.
